Glenn Gehrke, MD

Interventional Pain Management

I only decided to become a physician in my second year of
undergrad It was then that I realized that my life's direction had to have
a meaning.

A true calling rather than just earning a living. After much
soul searching, it came to me that the best thing I could do with my life
was to help others.

This, combined with my strong interest in biology
and "figuring out how things tick" led me to medicine

I then completed my undergrad with a B S in Biology and a minor in
Philosophy at the University of Minnesota, Duluth (Go Bulldogs!)

I next attended medical school at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis (Go
Gophers!) on the health professions scholarship program (H P S P
through the U S Navy, and earned my M D degree.

The next 4 years were spent in active Military service, most of it on
the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (Go NAVY!) It was there that I met an
Anesthesiologist who would change the course of my career I decided
to pursue Anesthesiology.

After my military service, I began Anesthesiology Residency training at
the University of Michigan (Go BLUE!) I would become an ABA Board
Certified Anesthesiologist and would later go on to Fellowship Training in
Interventional Pain Management'

After becoming ABA Board Certified in Interventional Pain Management,
I accepted a teaching position at the University of Michigan as a Clinical
Lecturer I served in that capacity for 2 more years before leaving to
pursue private practice It was there that I eventually transitioned to
full time pain management.

I now look forward to continuing to serve my community as a proud
member of IRISE! Go IRISE!
